Hello friends! Here is the first of what I hope will be a successful series, Drugstore Treasures. My last blog post explains a little bit of what these posts will consist of, what to expect, and so on and so forth!
To begin this post, I love going to Wal-Mart, I spend way too much time there. From the $5-$7 movie bins, the craft section, to the health and beauty section of the store; I always get lost in the deals I find. I know Wal-Mart isn’t all that though, but as of lately I think I’ve found some pretty good things!
Starting with the $9.88USD beauty boxes, (I’ll share the other goodies I found in a seperate post!) there’s 3 of them the everyday makeup look box, a glowy skin box, and lastly the latest in lips box. Now, I’ve only purchased the lip products box, but if you’d like to see the other two boxes, let me know! I was drawn mostly to the lip products because lippies are probably my favorite thing to wear and purchase. I can do with a little lipgloss (or lip liner, lipstick, etc.) and mascara on a good skin day, ya know?
The Latest in Lips box carries 6 lip products; 4 nude colored lippies, 1 bright pink lippie, and 1 lip scrub. I think they made some pretty good picks for this box, I think most of these could be flattering on a variety of skin tones. There’s only 2 of the products I really didn’t understand why they were in the box, the bright pink and the concealer nude. The Maybelline Super Stay in “Dreamer” was an odd choice, I would’ve loved to seen “Fighter” or “Amazonian” instead! The Hard Candy lip plumping gloss in the “Suga Suga” shade was also slightly disappointing to me, it was sort of patchy, so I think a clear or shimmery gold gloss would’ve been appropriate as well.
The Milani Amore Matte Lip is actually one of my favorite lip products! Specifically the “Adorable” shade! The e.l.f. Lip Scrub is also a known item in my collection; comes in handy when I’m feeling like a matte lip but don’t want my lips looking flaky. It’s definitely a staple for my makeup bag. I really enjoyed the Revlon and LoReal lippies, the Revlon plumping lip creme appears to be full sized, and the LoReal Infalliable Pro Matte Gloss, is a sample size. The Revlon gloss doesn’t give the plumping sensation and the LoReal gloss isn’t necessarily matte, but isn’t a gloss either…I’d describe it as more of a satin. Which is still a nice product! I’d definitely consider purchasing the full size! and the Revlon creme is nice to layer over your favorite nude or peachy pink lip.
This Wal-Mart beauty box was actually a good purchase in my opinion (hello, all opinions are my own!) even though there were 2 products I wasn’t really interested in. It’s still a pretty affordable purchase and it’s a nice little sampler of current lip trends. I’d give this a 8/10, I’d definitely buy a second box if they did like signature reds, or fall lip colors, etc.
Let me know if you’d be interested in my thoughts on the other 2 boxes they have! Have you seen these in your local Wal-Mart? Do you own any of these lippies? Which is your favorite? Leave your comments down below!
Until next time!
xoxo
